"St. Thomas police Inspector Colin Conway said that Dr. Karsky had drowned in a 'freak accident' while snorkeling in Trunk Bay on the island of St. John. According to Inspector Conway, Dr. Karsky apparently blacked out while swimming in thirty feet of water. His body was discovered by other snorkelers. Ironically some of Dr. Karsky's research on human immunology centered on the biology of poisonous sea snakes. He was an avid scuba diver who was quite familiar with the waters of the Virgin Islands. According to authorities, the water and weather conditions were calm at the time of his death. Dr. Karsky was planning to return to Harvard in June to resume his research and teaching duties . . ." |
